Laurens County was established in 1785 as a part of the Old 96 District. Original maps indicate the town may have originally been called Laurensville. The first reference to it being called Laurens is a town charter written in 1873. Today the City of Laurens is a community where people from surrounding areas still gather downtown to shop in our unique shops on our town square, dine at our one-of-a-kind eateries, and socialize with good friends. We are a place where education is a priority, and we are diligently creating economic opportunities within and around our borders.

The City of Laurens has several incredible parks allowing our residents a wonderful quality of living, which is second to none. Our beautiful Historical Downtown Square is a beautiful focal point for the essence of our city.  We have all the components for southern hospitality at its finest and the sophistication of the larger cities.
